Testimonials from clients of John McNally
November 2009
"John - thanks for this.
Back from Bexhill now - I ran
1.39.35. I was amazed at the time, I have to say. It was a flat route along the seafront, 4 laps around,
so it was relatively easy to pace, and clearly a good route for a PB (apart from the wind and the
rain...).
I also took your advice, started slowly, and tried to do each lap a bit faster
than the previous one. It obviously worked! Also, as you suggested, I was passing people almost all the way to
the end.
So - thanks for a fantastic result, this far exceeded what
I was hoping for.
Your advice, schedule, and coaching were all excellent. I also have to say that I
really enjoyed the track session on Wednesday."

"In April of this year I couldn't run more than 100 yards without needing to walk. I followed John's
advice and training programme and actually ran a 10 kilometre race in September, followed by the Coventry Half
Marathon in October!
Before meeting John I would have thought this was impossible.
Last year I had serious health problems, could hardly walk and was nearly 5 stone overweight. This year I have
lost all my excess weight, taken 10 inches off my waist, and feel much fitter and healthier.
The best part of John's programme is that with a carefully controlled exercise routine I am now eating much
more than before, I don't have to calorie count, and I feel so much better! :O) "

"I started running in 2006 after being a regular gym member since around 2002. In October 2006 though I had a
serious accident which left me unable to walk for four months. So after a second operation in March 2007 and
significant physio I was fit and well in September 2007.
The Programme
I asked for a programme as I'd again got rejected from the London Marathon and got a place at the Edinburgh
Marathon in May 2009.My target time for finishing was 4.15hrs. Although I had the schedule in December 2008
I developed something called 'runners knee and had a cold which didnt allow me to start running until the 3rd week
in January 09.
Anyway, I followed the programme to almost the letter completing the weekly mileage and only
missed one long run. I did two 20 mile races (Ashby and Bedford) but didn't make the first races as they had
filled up quite soon. My first hurdle was the Banbury 15 in the second week in March, and it was long runs
every week until a few weeks before my marathon when I started tapering down.
Edinburgh Marathon - 31 May 2009
I finished the marathon in 4.01hrs having made some silly strategic errors. I stopped for the
loo which lost me perhaps 8 minutes and just didnt position myself in the red zone so I was at the back of my
group. That all said, by the time I got to 20 miles I felt great and was able to run sub- 8 min mile. I did
the half in 2.13hrs and the second half in 1.48hrs, so a negative split.
I felt so great even at the end I could've gone on for another 3 or 4 miles. The tips of having pasta for three
nights before really loaded me with the right things. The programme was great and I have recommended it to many
people."

"My running club, Spa Striders, has really helped me through the
training - thank God for them! The club sessions have kept me going out and are really fun. A member of the
club, John McNally, plans schedules for all the marathon runners in the club, and has coped manfully with my
get-you-round plan. He's brilliant and motivates me gently."
